Cuba sees the meeting with the US as positive and criticized the policies against the island
During the pandemic, the number of Cuban migrants in the United States has increased, as a result of the economic and health crisis that the country is going through.

As correct and positive, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez defined the meeting that his country's delegation held with the United States government, in order to discuss migration issues, however, he once again questioned Washington's policies against the island

During a press conference, the foreign minister criticized the US for failing to comply with the legal commitment to issue more than 20,000 visas to Cuban migrants a year. In his opinion, the immigration services offered to Cuban citizens are "extremely limited."

It was also asked how many visas will be issued in 2022? At the same time that he accused of preventing them from reaching his territory, closing consular services and "cutting off" connections to and from third countries; using as a pretext the so- called "Havana syndrome", whose origin has not been clarified.

As on other occasions, Rodríguez denounced that the United States maintains a "blockade" against Cuba that has broken the economy of this country and has caused "accumulated damage" of more than one thousand billion dollars in 60 years.

Likewise, he accused Washington of supporting the illegal migration of Cubans to North American soil, especially since the start of the pandemic, since the covid has further affected the economy of the Caribbean island and has forced more people to arrive on rafts to the United States. USA

More than 47,000 Cuban migrants have arrived in the United States from October to February, this last month being the one that received the most people with a total of 16,657.
