Explosion in New York: a deceased and a collapsed building
Seven individuals, including five police officers, were injured in the incident.
An individual died on Tuesday, after an explosion in a structure in the New York district of the Bronx, caused a major fire and the total collapse of the building made up of apartments.
The New York Police Department confirmed the death of a 77-year-old woman. The other two people, 82 and 68 years old, are stable, out of danger.
Five members of the organization were intoxicated by smoke inhalation at the time of the rescue, for which they have been transferred to clinics.
Witnesses have commented to the NBC network, that two explosions followed by flames could be heard around and that, later, the ashes have begun to fall from the structure.
At first, it was suspected that the cause of the flames could be related to a gas spill. However, the energy company responsible for the gas leak acknowledged that there was no indication that this had happened.
This building is located five kilometers from the area where a fire occurred in early January, leaving 17 people dead.
