Five members of a French family decided to throw themselves into the void, from the seventh floor of their house. This happened in the town of Montreux, in Sweden, where they lived away from society.

Only one member of the family managed to survive. The 15-year-old is in a coma.

A man, his wife with his twin sister and an eight-year-old girl, died after throwing themselves from the balcony of the house.

The members of the family chose to climb up the balcony of the apartment, with the help of a ladder. They then proceeded to jump off, one by one, according to police.

In the investigation carried out by the police of the canton of Vaud, the presence of a third party was ruled out. This result was obtained five days after the tragedy occurred on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Reconstruction of events

The investigators in charge of the case worked on the reconstruction of the facts. On Thursday, March 24, two police officers visited the house, due to a problem with the son's home schooling.

After several minutes of insisting, a voice was heard asking them who they were. After identifying themselves, they heard no more noise and proceeded to leave.

In the investigators' results, at approximately 7 a.m. the family decided to jump off the balcony one after another, over the course of five minutes.

In the study, there was no indication of struggle, so there is a theory that these actions were voluntary.

isolated from society

Police reported that the family had been very interested in survival and conspiracy theories since the pandemic began.

They also point out that the family lived in an autarchy, far from society. Because of this, they had amassed a large stockpile of food, taking up large space in all the rooms.

All remained at home, except for the mother's twin sister, who worked outside the home. The girl and her mother were not registered with the authorities and the girl did not attend any school.

The police in a statement pointed out that these elements indicate that this family group feared the intervention of the authorities in their lives.

The French Journal du Dimanche seminary indicated that the man and the twin sisters attended prestigious French schools.
