President Gabriel Boric

The knew face that will lead the nation of Chile is that of Gabriel Boric, a 35-year-old who rose to victory over his opponent José Antonio Kast; with a total of 55% of the votes.

Undoubtedly, these were one of the most polarized elections in Chile, since the opponents had two very different visions of government; Jose Antonio Kast, an aspirant who represented the extreme right, while Boric, was the face of the left.

Now, with the triumph of Gabriel Boric a new scenario opens; and the dilemma that can generate uncertainty is whether communism will return to Chile with its triumph.

This is a diatribe that we will not be able to respond to, because the newly elected president has not made known the role that the Communist Party will play in the nation.

The new left for Chile

Fortunately, many analysts who have studied the advance of the new communist wave in Chile have declared that this generation is moving more towards social changes and progress, discarding the old communist models.

In this way, we can assume that it is not a radical communism, despite the fact that the president spent time being part of a student movement of the Autonomous Left.

Later, he left this organization to create the Broad Front, a more pragmatic movement that sought to gain more power.

Boric will govern with a transformative agenda

Boric includes a progressive agenda

We can say that the current led by Boric is more linked to a progressive agenda that focuses on the green economy, emphasizes feminism and seeks to give recognition to the LGTB community.

Likewise, the new president of Chile who will take office on March 11, 2022, has indicated that his program also includes some economic measures, such as: increasing taxes on large companies.

In this regard, the leader expects to increase tax collection by 5% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), under the commitment of fiscal responsibility.

He also pointed out that the pension system will be ended, however, before carrying out this process, Boric has indicated that it will study this point very well.

The challenges you must face

To carry out all the projects that have been proposed, it should be noted that the president-elect must govern with some challenges that are presented to them.

Among them are leading without having a majority in congress; and to govern with an existing political coalition in the country.
