In the United States, a priest organizes the burning of Harry Potter books
Greg Locke is known for defending conspiracy theories, on social networks and for being anti-vaccines.
Pastor Greg Locke of Tennessee organized a rally against the rising trend of book censorship, to burn Harry Potter and Twilight books because they are perceived as witchcraft.
The parish priest, who is also the leader of the Global Vision Bible Church, was the one who started throwing the books into the fire in the state capital, Nashville.
The leader raised the idea that people are aware of their path, asking them to take everything so that they stop allowing demonic influence in their homes, he assures that it is completely witchcraft.
He also added that everyone has a biblical and constitutional right to carry out this event.
On the social network Twitter, Greg Locke has been blocked for posting false information regarding the Covid-19 vaccines. In his account, he cataloged the vaccine as 'sugar water'.
Book censorship
In some parts of the United States, books have been censored lately. Also, there are petitions for the prohibition of the teaching of certain books in educational establishments, for religious and political reasons.
In the county of McMinn, state of Tennessee, at the end of January, it was decided to censor the famous educational comic, “Maus”, in which it showed information about the Holocaust.
The argument for this decision was that naked bodies could be seen and words like "God Damn" were used, which means "curse".
This cartoon, which was published for a decade, was made by Art Spiegelman. Due to its great popularity at the time, teaching materials were designed in schools as a tool to demonstrate the facts of the Holocaust. In 1992, "Maus" won the Pulitzer Prize.
