Morocco: Rayan, the boy who was trapped in a 32-meter well for five days, died
Rescue team did a hard job

After spending 96 hours in the well, in northern Morocco, Moroccan authorities confirm the death of the 5-year-old boy.

Hours before, it had been seen that the child was lying on his back, through a probe camera. So it became difficult to define if he was still alive. Meanwhile, the authorities were in charge of continuing to dig for their rescue.

The Moroccan Royal House was in charge of confirming the death of the minor, after removing his body, this Saturday night. King Mohamed VI has communicated with Wasima Jershish and Jales Oram, to offer his condolences.

The rescue operation was slightly delayed on several occasions due to the difficulty of the situation, since there could be landslides or collapses, in the worst case.

Many people gathered at the scene to pray for the boy and support the rescue team.

Rescue of the minor

The Civil Protection team had a difficult operation in this case, since the boy was separated from the agents by 70 centimeters of land. This rescue was extremely slow to prevent a possible collapse.

Excavations parallel to the well could be opened in the last hours, through which they managed to get oxygen and water to the child, through tubes and bottles. However, they were not certain that the child had been able to use them.

The rescue team managed to get the little boy out of the bottom of the well, and they had everything ready to admit him to an ambulance that was waiting at the scene, but the resuscitation process failed.

An ambulance along with his parents were waiting at the tunnel entrance, awaiting his intervention. In addition, a helicopter was in the vicinity with the necessary medical supplies.

This case was reminiscent of the case of little Julen, from Spain, in 2019. For this reason, the team of Auxiliary Forces, Civil Protection, local authorities and the Royal Gendarmerie, took into account that the rescue was carried out through a well parallel to the place where Rayan was located.
