In this sense, different multinational companies have ceased their operations on Russian soil. Such is the case of service providers such as Pepsi, Starbucks, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Pizza Hut, McDonald's and Coca Cola.

In the case of McDonald's, the American company issued a statement indicating that they joined the world in condemning the aggression and violence.

In addition, the CEO of McDonald's, Chris Kempczinski, stressed that the company's priority was to look after its 62,000 employees, so they would continue to pay their salaries.

After the announcement of the withdrawal of the fast food chain, hundreds of Russians turned to their stores to try McDonald's products for the "last time"; while others decided to "invest" and buy the hamburgers and then sell them.

On the Avito.ru website (similar to Amazon), Russians can find listings selling a Big Mac hamburger for 50,000 items ($427), an apple pie for 104,000 items ($800+), “sauce collection” at $400, and even the empty boxes with the McDonald's logo at $926.

On March 12, an application was presented to the Duma (Russian Legislative Assembly) to register the food chain called "Uncle Vanya" or "Uncle Vania", whose logo will be the letter "B" of the Cyrillic alphabet, which is Vanya's initial.

The highlight of the logo is the characteristic red background and yellow lettering, which resembles the iconic "golden arches" of McDonald's, but lying to the right.

In this regard, the president of the Lower House of the Russian parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, would have indicated that the Russian brands must replace the closed McDonald's ; Statements made in line with what Russian President Vladimir Putin said about "introducing external management and then transferring the companies to those who want to work."

As for Coca Cola, the Russian government website, YNAO, announced that the Arctic Water plant in Yamal will work to expand its range of products, including a "Russian Coca Cola".

In this regard, the general director of the company, Sergey Kara, explained that although they felt a small shortage of raw material, suppliers began to reestablish supply chains and adjust prices. "Our task is to fill the vacant niches as quickly as possible," he added.

Multinational companies that have left Russia

Due to the sanctions applied to Russia by the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union, more than 400 companies have ceased operations.

Among the companies that have decided to leave Russia are those belonging to the technology sector, such as HP, Dell, Intel, Oracle and SAP, and the restriction on the use of Visa and MasterCard cards.

They have also restricted their Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok services ; as well as the streaming or cable television companies Disney, Sony, Universal, Paramount, Warner Bros and Netflix.

Inclusive companies dedicated to the textile and footwear industry have made the decision to withdraw from the country, such as Chanel, Prada, Hermes, Nike, Adidas, Puma and H&M.
