Russian opposition activist who was in charge of calling a protest in Moscow arrested.
Authorities report that “unauthorized” demonstrations will not be allowed.
Marina Litvinovich was detained by police as she left her home after calling a protest in Moscow against the war with Ukraine. This call was made after Russia began the military operation against Ukraine.
The activist reported her arrest via Telegram and also confirmed it in a message sent to Reuters. On Thursday night, Litvinovich called on the Russians to gather in different cities in Russia to show their discontent.
Likewise, the Ministry of the Interior, the Investigative Committee and the Russian Prosecutor's Office reported that any citizen who participates in a protest will be arrested.
The authorities assured that they will repress any type of demonstration that is not authorized against the war with Ukraine, where a large military operation was carried out a few hours ago, led by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Investigation Committee reported that all those who participate in rallies against the foreign policy situation, or in any type of confrontation, will be exposed to judicial prosecution.
After this announcement, there have been arrests of civilians who were concentrated in front of the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow.
Citizens have expressed their discontent at rallies in Russian cities. One of them is Saint Petersburg, where they insist that they do not agree with the conductor with Ukraine. At the moment, 852 people have been detained in 44 Russian cities.
Likewise, some citizens in other European countries decided to take to the streets to demonstrate their rejection of this military invasion. In Germany and Berlin, people have gathered in front of the Chancellery with flags, harangues and banners calling for an end to the conflict.
