Scandal for the luxurious mansion of the son of Manuel López Obrador
The Mexican president assures that the mansion in the United States, where his son lives, belongs to his daughter-in-law, who is a wealthy woman.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured this Monday that his children are not influenced by power. These statements were offered after starring in a scandal created by the dissemination of images of a millionaire and luxurious mansion in the United States, of his eldest son.
In his morning press conference, he assured that the government has no influence on his children, and contracts are not given to those recommended.
The Non-Governmental Organization in Mexico, against Corruption, carried out an investigation last week, in which they pointed out José Ramón López Beltrán, eldest son of the president, as the owner of two residences in Houston, Texas, together with his wife.
According to investigations, the value of each of the properties is more than a million dollars. It was also known that both move in a Mercedes-Benz van, all these properties are in the name of Carolyn Adams and López Beltrán.
As a result, it was also found that the couple lived in a property in Conroe, Texas. The mansion belonged to a director of the Baker Hughes oil company, which maintains contracts with the Mexican government for 151 million dollars.
Carolyn Adams, the president's daughter-in-law, is a worker in an oil industry and has money, according to the Mexican media at the president's press conference.
Likewise, the president assured that they both got married, and apparently the lady has a lot of money, but this has nothing to do with a contract, with a recommendation, and much less with the government.
The president's awkward daughter-in-law
Carolyn Adams moved to Mexico in 2016 to work as an operator at Cava Energy, a company that provides specialized services to Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), including the construction of gas pipelines.
Previously, he worked at the British Petroleum company, in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, for more than 15 years.
Adams moved to Mexico City in 2019 and started working at the Stella Holdings company. That same year, the Brazilian moved with José Ramón López Obrador to Houston, Texas, after becoming parents.
According to Salvador García Soto, a columnist, Carolyn has generated certain disagreements between Manuel López Obrador and his son José Ramón, for which they call her "the uncomfortable daughter-in-law" of the president.
election campaign times
In 2019, Adams caught the attention of the press by attending the President's First Government Report, this was the confirmation of the sentimental relationship with her current husband.
López Beltrán worked on the father's presidential campaign. He had the position of coordinator of the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA) in the State of Mexico.
López Obrador in his campaign, criticized the officials of other governments, who showed their wealth. Now, this is contradicted by seeing the luxurious life of López Beltrán, going against what his father professes.
a humble president
Andrés Manuel López Obrador has always shown himself to be a simple person, without excesses, since he was mayor of Mexico City, from 2000 to 2005.
Even so, his campaign was carried out with few funds and even so, he visited all corners of Mexico in his white 1980 Dodge Aspen, better known as "El Palomo de Obrador".
Upon arriving at his post at the National Palace of Mexico, he reported that he would not be living in the official residence of Los Pinos. This property turned it into a museum. In addition, he notified that he would travel only on commercial flights, as well as refusing to have bodyguards.
Despite this, his family has been in different chapters of scandals and this caught the attention of the public.
Pío López Obrador was shown in a video released in 2020, where he was seen receiving cash from the Chiapas state government adviser, David León. Currently, he is in charge of directing Civil Protection at the national level.
Upon receiving these accusations, Obrador indicated that he would not protect anyone, and that if the story was true, he had to take responsibility for the illicit act for which he would have to be punished.
