Democratic Senator from Tennessee, Katrina Robinson expelled from the Senate for fraud.

Robinson, 41 years old, and senator since 2018 for the Democratic Party, was accused of violating a criminal law, diverting funds destined for a school that she herself managed before becoming a senator.

Faced with this accusation by the senatorial chamber jury, the appointed judge seconded it, so the state prosecutor's office asked the former senator to pay personal expenses with more than $600,000 in federal funds granted to the school involved.

Senate opinion

Following the vote that took place, the head of the chamber, Randy McNally, communicated that the expulsion of a senator is not a common thing to see or much less a pleasant thing to witness.

However, when it is necessary to do so, it must be done without hesitation, as the integrity of the Senate will always be of vital importance to its credibility.

For his part, John Steven pointed out that citizens cannot be asked to respect integrity and reputation, if the Senate itself does not do so, and only question the decisions of its members.
