A new technology involving artificial intelligence and X-rays would allow the charred scrolls of the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum to be read. The scrolls are archaeological pieces recovered through history. These scrolls were destroyed by volcanic activity in the eruption of Vesuvius.

Current state of the Scroll

The scrolls date from around AD 79. C. and scientists believe that through artificial intelligence and X-rays they can decipher what they say. The objective is to separate the small differences between each sheet to begin to decipher what was written on them.

However, this will begin in the next few months, as the technology is gradually being tested for accuracy. The work is far from finished, since there are approximately 1000 scrolls that have never been read as a result of the volcanization.

Scientists try to discover the contents of the scrolls to understand Epicurean Greek philosophy. However, others believe that they presented trade texts, poems, works of thinkers and some philosophical theories of which very little information is had.

However, it is not the first time that they have tried to unroll the scrolls. At least 1000 have been destroyed over time trying to read its content, but none have been successful. Much of the scrolls were found in the few remains of the Pompeii and Herculaneum libraries in 1752.
