The United States could sanction Spain for supporting the Maduro regime

The White House began to study a series of historic sanctions against Spain. Apparently, the bank of that country helps the regime of Nicolás Maduro to move large sums of money. Although these sanctions have yet to be confirmed, it would be the first time in history that the United States has applied sanctions on a NATO ally.

Donald Trump has been informed about the actions of the Spanish government to prevent the European Union from acting against Nicolás Maduro. Presumably, he has motivated other governments not to act against him and to allow free trade for Venezuelans. The person in charge of these actions has been the Central Bank of Spain.

Some sources assure that the contracts made in Venezuela are collected through banks in Spain. In this way, it was easy for both parties to the agreement to act in accordance with the contract and to be able to establish payments.

However, Spain has supported both sides of the conflict in Venezuela. In previous months, Juan Guaidó requested a political asylum from Leopoldo López.

Trump's strategy is to end all the allies that Venezuela has on a global level. The sanctions against Cuba are a sample of this effort to suppress the Venezuelan economy. However, Maduro continues to count on Russia's support for his socialist struggle.

For the moment, the Central Bank of Spain has denied that it is carrying out transactions through its system to favor the Maduro regime.
