The decision of the government of Joe Biden, of the deportation to Colombia, of Venezuelan migrants who have previously lived in that country, and currently they have tried to enter North American territory, generated harsh criticism.

The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Bob Menéndez, declared that the worst immigration policies used in the Trump administration are being applied, pointing out that the administration of the current president, Joe Biden, is turning its back on immigrants. “who most need protection from the united states”.

The senator made reference to Title 42, which was put into practice by Donald Trump when the pandemic began. This allows the immediate deportation of illegal immigrants for health security.

Menéndez agrees that health precautions go hand in hand with this measure, he also pointed out that the government must stop these expulsions and return to the regularization process with requests for humanitarian asylum.

The Department of National Security on Monday would have confirmed the expulsion in January of two Venezuelan citizens, sources assure that this process will surely be used as a regular resource.

Help immigrants be productive in the US

On the other hand, Republican Senator Rick Scott declared that he will do everything in his power to investigate what the Biden government is doing, since he assures that his desire is to be able to help Venezuelan immigrants.

However, Scott insists that it is necessary to have a secure border and wants to guarantee the entry of people who will be productive for the United States.

Since the beginning of his term, President Joe Biden has been harshly criticized by Republicans, blaming him for being the cause of the crisis on the southern border, which has a large influx of migrants, mostly Central Americans, Haitians and Venezuelans.

White House Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed on Tuesday that the United States deported two Venezuelans to Colombia, based on Title 42, a measure that was put into circulation in March 2020 by health authorities.

Psaki assured that it was a repatriation to his place of residence, which was Colombia. He also pointed out that they hoped that the process would be carried out under the regular immigration regulations.

In addition, he confirmed that this program is in its initial phase, without giving more information as to when it will be in force, but I do anticipate that these flights will be more regular.

In an interview, Colombian Foreign Minister Marta Ramírez reportedly denied that the Colombian government had an agreement with the United States on Venezuelan immigrants.

The representation of the interim Government of Venezuela in the United States, sent a statement the same day of the events where it explained that it would rarely support the deportation of Venezuelans, except in cases of criminals.

On the other hand, the interim government asked the United States to allow Venezuelan migrants to carry out their asylum application and, under the established regulations, to make the final decisions.

The diplomatic team represented by the renowned interim president, Juan Guaido, has made a humanitarian appeal due to the crisis in Venezuela, which has resulted in the forced departure of more than 5 million Venezuelans from their country.
