The United States reopens its borders to the vaccinated
Since last Monday, November 8, the United States has reopened its borders to receive people from, so the restrictions have ended. The entry of international travelers is authorized, but they must be fully vaccinated, with some exceptions.
The United States has been closing its borders for more than a year and a half to international travelers from China, South Africa, the United Kingdom, India, Brazil and much of all of Europe. This is how entry policies are being modified to measures that coronavirus cases are decreasing or are being controlled.
As of November 8, passengers who have the complete vaccination scheme will be able to access that country. Land borders have also been opened so that citizens who want to re-enter from Mexico or Canada can do so in compliance with the regulations.
However, the measure for the crossing of land borders will be made for people traveling for non-essential reasons such as tourism or family. It has also been announced that the rule will change by January 2022 when the requirement of complete vaccination is required for all visitors who enter by land regardless of their reason for entering the country.
All vaccines that have been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) will be accepted by the authorities of the United States. These vaccines are as follows:
AstraZeneca.
Modern
Pfizer / BioNTech.
Johnson & Johnson.
Covaxin.
Sinovac.
Sinopharm.
It should be remembered that the Russian Sputnik V vaccine is currently not accepted by the United States because it is not endorsed by the WHO, who are currently reviewing it. This vaccine is currently licensed for use in more than 70 countries.
New reunions of family and friends
Former President Donald Trump had placed a travel ban before his departure in early 2020 and was later continued by Joe Biden, his successor. This caused hundreds of families, partners and friends to have to separate for a long time.
Many people have benefited from this news or perhaps this is what a 63-year-old British woman made known through her social networks, Alison Henry, who will be flying to New York next Monday. "It has been very hard for me, all I want is to see my son."
This was a measure that was taken as a protection against the virus, so the United States closed its doors to travelers from China since February 2020. Later, on March 13, several restrictions were created for the countries of Europe and shortly after for the United Kingdom and Ireland and in turn the land borders with Canada and Mexico were closing.
This is how many of the relatives on both sides of the Atlantic eagerly await the reunion and although since last summer it was already possible to travel from the United States to Europe, the foreigners who were on American soil with their visas did not have any guarantee of be able to re-enter your country.
In order to have a positive response to the influx of travel, flight companies have increased the number of transatlantic flights, where they have had to incorporate larger planes, because this lifting of restrictions also means a respite for the tourism sector.
It must be taken into account that the tourism sector has been plunged into a serious economic crisis due to all the restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic. Some American cities along the Mexican border like California and Texas have also suffered economically from all the travel restrictions.
The consequences of the pandemic
The United States has not been the only ones affected by the pandemic, but the economies of many countries are also affected.
In the case of Texas, many merchants have been waiting for this moment to reopen the border to regain income from tourists, something that has been lost for a year and a half.
Many European countries for some time were pressuring the US to lower its preventive measures a bit and thus be able to reactivate the economy of trade related to both continents. This is how around 30 countries expressed their concerns after the closure of the United States border.
Before the border closure took place, the United States received approximately 80 million visitors from Europe.
What are the requirements to travel?
It is important that all people who want to travel to the United States bear in mind that access will not be totally free, so the authorities of that country are preparing to control the vaccination status of travelers, what is their network of the closest contact and the size of the Covid-19 test, which must be negative.
In the case of adult travelers, they must be fully vaccinated before getting on their flight and in the same way they must present a negative Covid-19 test for less than 72 hours.
For those under 18 years of age, the coronavirus vaccine will not be chosen, but if they must present the negative Covid-19 test and for children 2 years or younger, no type of requirement will be implemented at the time of taking their flight.
Considering that in the poorest countries there is a vaccination crisis. The United States Government led by Joe Biden has stated that it will allow unvaccinated international visitors to enter the country if there is a humanitarian or emergency reason.
For this, it has drawn up a list of 50 countries where only 10 or 14% of the inhabitants have been vaccinated. Likewise, Joe Biden has explained that these exceptions will be applied in a very restricted way and will therefore require the approval of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
