President of the United States Joe Biden

US President Joe Biden has confirmed the authorization to mobilize nearly 3,000 military personnel to Eastern Europe, in support of Ukraine and its allies.

Russia currently has more than 100,000 troops deployed, potentially threatening Ukraine.

The official announcement by the Department of Defense has not yet been made, however, President Biden confirmed that it will be made "in the coming days."

Specifically, the shipment of soldiers by the United States will consist of 2,000 soldiers for Poland and 1,000 more distributed in some NATO countries, Romania among them.

Days ago, the United States had already confirmed that 8,500 soldiers had been put on notice in case NATO needed it. Sources have clarified to the media that they are not soldiers who are going to fight on the Ukrainian border and that they are not permanent movements.

Russia, repeatedly, has refuted the US military development in the European region, a situation that it has classified as a threat. On the other hand, Moscow has demanded that NATO halt its deployment in Eastern Europe.

Russian conditions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has pointed out that NATO and the United States have ignored the main security demands in order to avoid conflict.

However, Putin has stressed that Russia is still willing to continue the dialogue to reduce hostility on the border with Ukraine.

Putin has highlighted the high probability of reaching an agreement where the military tension ends, as long as the conditions of all the parties involved are taken into account, including the demands of Russia.

Russia criticizes the negative response by the United States to not allow Ukraine to join NATO, to confront the deployment of weapons near Russia and to withdraw its troops from Eastern Europe.

The main concern of the United States is that a Russian invasion of Ukraine takes place. Russian soldiers are deployed on the Ukrainian border, and in recent weeks no progress has been made to de-escalate the tension.

President Putin assures that the denial of the United States to his demands is a strong threat to all of Europe, and insisted that the dialogue processes continue to find solutions to the conflict.

Vladimir Putin has stated that Ukraine's entry into NATO could lead to an armed escalation by Ukrainian soldiers wanting to recover the territory of Crimea and other areas controlled by pro-Russians in Ukraine.

"Imagine that Ukraine becomes a member of NATO and launches these military operations. Should we then fight against NATO? Has anyone thought about it?" Vladimir Putin said.

In 2014, Russia took control of Crimea after the ouster of the president, then gave military support to separatists in eastern Ukraine leading to an armed conflict that has so far caused more than 14,000 casualties.
