Relief agencies revealed extensive damage in the Pacific archipelago of Tonga on Tuesday after the huge eruption of the underwater volcano was followed by a tsunami, resulting in one death.

The main indications of the magnitude of the emergency on the Pacific island began to emerge through unpredictable calls and satellite images, three days after the eruption.

The body of a British lady was found after being swept away by the tsunami, her family revealed. Also registered as missing one more person. The number of people affected by this misfortune is still unknown.

Two Mexican investigators were caught in Tonga, even though they are out of danger. The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that the public authorities together with their relatives are looking for the right way to get them out.

Simultaneously, three beaches in Peru's Callao province were isolated after an oil spill credited to unusual waves resulting from the eruption, according to the country's environment ministry. In this region, two women who were dragged by the waves died.

Significant damage

Observation flights claimed considerable property damage on Mango and Fonoi islands, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
