The project, by two American students, has managed to collect more than 10,000 hosts, who are offering their homes to families leaving Ukraine.

This project has been in existence for two weeks and has had a great reach among the refugees.

This began with a shock generated by the images of the war. Harvard students Avi Schiffmann, 19, and Marco Burstein, 18, decided to create the platform for refugees to get accommodation near their location.

Ukraine Take Shelter is the new independent platform, which allows to connect Ukrainian refugees with certain houses and hosts.

It is clearly a public bulletin in which those who have free spaces are invited to publish them on the list and offer help directly.

Europeans can also offer help quickly. Germany, Spain and France are the countries that have been most active.

Airbnb has also joined the cause, since many of its users are paying for stays that will not be occupied by them, and offer refugees a free place.

This platform is available in more than 10 languages. The hosts only indicate the location of the house they wish to offer and some information so that the refugees can contact them, requesting help.

This is expected to reduce the time and all the paperwork that these actions entail.

On Airbnb you can see the description of each host, if pets are accepted, if only children are received or even, there are those who offer to cancel plane tickets to people who need it.

Housing locations are not shown in these directions. Those who are interested only have to add the city or nearby town and thus, they will get the offer that suits their needs. They then come into direct contact with the host.

The Non-Governmental Organizations that are in charge of managing the reception, carry out a study of the foster homes, to ensure that they are safe and suitable.

However, this step is not included in the method.

The algorithm was designed to make everything safer, and punish any type of suspicion that any process is carried out automatically. Thus, any suspicion of bots from the platform would be immediately eliminated.
