Ukrainian defense asks citizens to prepare Molotov
Ukraine's capital city has been under attack since Friday morning.
The Ukrainian capital, kyiv, is completely surrounded by Russian forces. Officials warned that this will be a difficult day with a large influx of tanks, so they asked citizens to prepare Molotov cocktails to attack and neutralize the occupier.
Before dawn, the city began to be attacked with explosions all around the capital. In the city they could see how some missiles fell.
Dmytro Kuleba explained that the attacks generated by Russian rockets in the city of Kiev are “terrifying”. He added that the last time the capital experienced something like this was when Nazi Germany attacked them in 1941.
In addition, he assured that Ukraine defeated Nazi Germany and will also overcome this situation.
Despite the attacks, three million citizens remain in the city.
The Ukrainians spent the night sheltered in subway stations, a scenario very similar to that of the World War. People claim that it was the sound of the air strikes that woke them up.
On the streets of the city, tanks and military vehicles rolled through the streets while firing regular bursts. It has been seen that a building was destroyed, after being attacked by missiles. A downed plane can also be seen in the middle of a street.
Vitaly Klitschko, a former heavyweight boxer and mayor of Kiev, reported that a rocket hit a multi-story apartment building in the capital, causing a fire.
Antonio Gerashchenko also spoke and said that today will be the most difficult day of all. He assured that Russia's plan is to destroy the columns of tanks from Chernihiv and Uvankov to kyiv.
He asserted that all the defenders of Kiev are prepared and stressed that officials are responsible for publishing instructions for the manufacture of homemade weapons.
On Friday morning, a report noted that Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down a Russian plane at the Kiev airfield.
The Ukrainian army claimed that a group of Russian saboteurs was seen in a Ukrainian district on the outskirts of the capital on Friday. They also noted that there is significant fighting 40 miles to the northeast at Ivankiv, and at Sumy.
Ukrainian president stays in kyiv
Until now, President Volodimir Zelensky has promised the country to stay in the capital, despite the fact that he considers himself and his family to be the number one target of Russian forces.
As a result of the clashes, Zelenski detailed that 137 heroes, including 10 military officers, have died. However, his advisers confirm that there is a significant number of dead from the Russian forces.
At a meeting of European Union leaders, the president could be seen on video from a bunker-like location, Magdalena Andersson, the Swedish prime minister, reported.
The president has been in constant request for international help to face the war, which had been notified for several weeks by the United States and its Western allies.
The leader stressed that if they don't help them now and if they don't offer powerful help to the country, the war will knock on their door tomorrow.
Zelensky has declared martial law, severed diplomatic ties in Moscow and ordered a full military deployment, which is expected to last approximately 90 days.
