Ukraine is being attacked by Russia since last Thursday, February 24.

Under the premise that "Anyone who can join the fight against the occupiers should do so", the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that people with military experience who are imprisoned in Ukrainian prisons will be released.

In this way they will be given the opportunity to "clean up their guilt" by defending their country, which has been under attack since last Thursday, February 24, by Russian troops, promoted by Vladimir Putin.

The Ukrainian president explained that it was not an easy decision, from the moral point of view, but from the point of view of protection it will be useful.

On the other hand, he added that “Ukrainian fighters with real combat experience will be released under martial law, the key now is defense,” Zelensky said at a press conference just before the negotiations began in Belarus.

Zelensky asked the Russian troops to withdraw

The head of state highlighted that to date 16 children have died and 45 have been injured, among the 352 deaths and around two thousand recorded injuries.

Additionally, he mentioned that 4,500 Russian soldiers have died in combat. Communicating in Russian, Zelensky questioned why the Russian military is fighting.

“Why are the columns of your armored vehicles coming against us from our Crimea, Yalta, Evpatoria, Sudak, Simferopol? Once again: 4,500 Russians killed. Dispose of your equipment, get out of here. Just save your lives,” he said.

It should be noted that last week the Ukrainian authorities called on the civilian population to join the defense of the nation and prepare homemade "Molotov cocktails" to support the Ukrainian military.
