Mike Pompeo acknowledged that Mexico has made efforts to comply with the agreement that guarantees that the only undocumented persons who arrive in their country, the United States of America, do so legally. However, he also said that there is still much to do so that the figures continue to fall, although he affirmed that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador agreed to take immigration measures that former presidents had refused.

"We have seen progress, but they are still very high (the numbers on the flow of undocumented immigrants), we have to keep working. The objective is to reach zero arrests of migrants who enter the United States illegally", he said.

He also noted that US President Donald Trump put Mexico in a position to convince itself that it was the best for both of them.

"The good news is that this administration in Mexico, that of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has allocated resources that demonstrate its commitment and has done things that the Mexican government had refused to do for many years," he added.
