What is the Food Emergency Law recently approved in Argentina about?
Supported by the CGT, the Catholic Church and the UIA, the food emergency law already has a half-sanction in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies. What the promoters are looking for is that state assistance be extended to all communities and schools in order to curb the increase in poverty.

Although at the beginning there were 12 model laws and as a result of a meeting of all sectors, a single project was finalized to be presented to the chamber. The emergency was declared once wages dropped and food costs went up. What he seeks is to create strategies and a rapid distribution of food to all the places where Argentines eat who have nowhere else to eat.
The project seeks a 50% increase in food items. The promoters warned that Argentina has the agricultural and livestock capacity to produce food for 4 times the amount of its population, but this is not happening.
The future law received a total of 222 affirmative votes, none against. Now the bill will go to the Senate where it is believed that it will have the same fate. Although at first it was thought that Macri would veto the law, he has been flexible in passing it.
What Macri does not like is that it is an initiative carried out by the opposition party that is taking this law as a sign of its alleged mismanagement. Argentines hope that it will develop quickly, since the law seeks to shelter all children up to 14 years of age, pregnant women, the disabled and people over 70 years of age who are in a situation of poverty.
