People magazine in Spanish says goodbye to its print edition
The magazine bets on success in the digital world
The printed editions of the six magazines of the Dotdash Meredith publishing group will stop circulating, since they will no longer be printed, because they have decided to publish them only digitally. People en español is one of the magazines belonging to this group.
Its launch was made in 1996; and is considered the best-selling magazine in the Spanish-speaking United States. It is estimated that monthly has a reception of seven million people.
A spokesperson commented that important investments are being made this year in all the publisher's brands, so they are sure that People en Español will continue to be successful in the digital world.
The magazine, in addition to physically disappearing, will also disappear from the EatingWell, Parents, InStyle, Entertainment Weekly and Healt newsstands.
Neil Vogel, CEO of the company, offered a message that was published in the US media, in which he indicated that with this decision they are predicted to dismiss approximately two hundred employees.
However, they do not stop thanking people for their great work in the company, so they are committed to helping them in this transition.
The directors have made this decision as a method to bet on the digital world with these six brands.
The Meredith publisher was bought by a subsidiary company of the ISC conglomerate and specialized in internet media. This company paid 2,700 million dollars. This was the motive that prompted them to transform.
Vogel assured that People magazine will continue to be printed and will have important improvements due to the investment made.
