American actor Rip Torn has died at the age of 88 at his home in Lakeville, Connecticut. He participated in more than 100 films, but younger generations know him only for his participation in the "Men in Black" saga.

According to statements from his publicist to Variety magazine, the actor died peacefully at his home, accompanied by his wife Amy Wright, and their daughters Katie and Angelica.

His work on "Men in Black" made him a recognizable figure for millions of fans of the film saga with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. He played the head of the secret organization that maintains contact with aliens.

After "Men in Black" he participated in other films such as "Forty Shades of Blue", winner at the Sundance Festival, and in Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" in 2006.

In relation to his beginnings in acting life, after finishing high school, he made his Hollywood debut in 1956 with an uncredited character in "Baby doll", and then appeared in "A face headed East". She later decided to move to New York to study acting at the Actros Studio with Lee Strasberg and dance with the renowned Martha Graham.

He won an Emmy for his work on the comedy "The Larry Sanders Show." He was nominated for a Tony, for his work on Broadway in 1960, for the original production of "Sweet Bird of youth" by Tennesseee Williams.

He managed to be nominated for an Oscar for his work in "Cross Creek" in 1984 as best supporting actor.

In 1992, he began his six-year work on "The Larry Sanders Show", where he played many characters, for which he won an Emmy in 1996.

He was married three times. He had a total of six children. The first two: Tony and Angelica, are actors and directors.
