Atlético de Madrid and Manchester United tie at the Metropolitan
Elanga's goal at 80'

This Wednesday the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 took place, Atlético de Madrid hosted Manchester United at the Wanda Metropolitano in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.

The home team did not take long to make themselves felt and in the first minutes they warned with two occasions in De Gea 's goal and by minute 7, through a Lodi center down the left wing, Joao Félix would come to head and send it to the post left where he hits and enters to make it 1-0.

The team led by 'Cholo' ceded control of the game to the English after the goal. The 'red devils' tried to disturb Oblak's goal, but Kondogbia did an excellent job of holding back the visitors' initiatives and thus initiate the 'mattress' attack.

At minute 45', Herrera took a short free kick, then Lodi sends a cross from the left and Vrsaljko takes a shot that first hits Lindelöf and deflects the crossbar. This is how the first half ended.

Everything would continue in the same way in the second half, but it would not be until the 80th minute, when Bruno passes it to Elanga (who had entered for Rashford ) and he takes a cross shot that beats Oblak and marks the final 1-1.

This is Manchester's 500th goal in the European Cup and the 100th conceded by Atlético in the Champions League. With this tie, the classification for the quarterfinals is open to be defined at Old Trafford.

Four goals (2 for each team) at the Estádio da Luz.

The other match took place at the same time, but in this case at the Estádio da Luz where Benfica received Ajax to offer a great show that culminated in a final score of 2-2.

Really, it was a very exciting match that left three goals in the first half. Ajax would score the first through Tadic, who at 18' would volley a great cross from Mazraoui who had recovered a ball from the right and took a cross that the Serb converted into the first goal.

At 26', Benfica equalized after a strange play in the visiting area that ended with the ball to the left and Vertonghen did not hesitate to take a cross from below that Haller put into his own goal.

At 29 'the Dutch team would go ahead on the scoreboard again through Haller who would now convert after a rebound from goalkeeper Vlachodimos. With a score of 1-2 they would go to rest.

The second half was characterized by several chances for both teams that made the game very entertaining and the goalkeepers grew to not let any more balls in, but at 72', Yaremchuk equalized after a shot by Gonzalo Ramos from the edge of the area that the goalkeeper stops, but the rebound is served for the Ukrainian to head and score.

A great match and with a score of 2-2. With these draws, the teams have no choice but to prepare for the second leg on March 15 in Manchester and Amsterdam, respectively.
