Europa League round of 16 tie
This Friday the draw was made for the round of 16 of the Europa League, a competition in which Barcelona from Spain is the great favorite, but the six-time champion of the tournament, Sevilla, is also noted as a good candidate for the title.
The pairings, as usual, are two-legged, and the first leg will take place on March 9 and 10 and the second leg on the 17th of the same month. This is how the crosses between the 16 teams were:
Barcelona vs Galatasaray
The Catalans are the big favorites after that great display of football in the second leg against Napoli, where they won the visitors with a final score of 2-4. However, they will face the always difficult Turkish team Galatasaray, led by Domenec Torrent, who was part of Guardiola's coaching staff for four seasons.
Seville vs. West Ham
The Andalusians have lifted the trophy six times and want to achieve it this time at home, as the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán was chosen to host the Europa League final. However, on this occasion those led by Julen Lopetegui will face a tough rival, the English are sixth in the Premier under the direction of Scotsman David Moyes.
Betis vs Eintracht Frankfurt
The Seville team is also one of the best in LaLiga (they are third) and under the command of Manuel Pellegrini they are making history in all competitions. However, they should not underestimate the 10th-place Bundesliga side, who are coming off the top spot in Group D, ahead of Greece's Olympiacos.
Leipzig vs Spartak Moscow
The Germans have just eliminated Real Sociedad in the round of 16 and are listed as good candidates to obtain the trophy, but Spartak will not be an easy rival. The second leg will be on a neutral ground due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Rangers vs. Red Star
The Scottish champion is achieving a great Europa League and they come from eliminating Haaland's Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16, but they should not underestimate the Serbs who come first in Group F, ahead of Braga.
Sporting Braga vs Monaco
The Portuguese suffered too much against the modest Sheriff (in the Champions League group stage they beat Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu ), whom they defeated on penalties. But this time they will face Monaco who have renowned players like Tchouamení and Ben Yedder in their ranks.
Porto vs Lyon
The Portuguese have just beaten Lazio in the Round of 16 and will now face Lyon, which is eleventh in Ligue 1, but has players of the quality of Paquetá and Dembélé.
Atalanta vs Bayer Leverkusen
Both teams are very offensive and it can be guaranteed that they will be games with many goals. For the Italian team, the Colombian strikers Muriel and Zapata stand out, while for the Germans (who are third in the Bendesliga) Schick, Wirtz, Diaby.
