Great victory for Liverpool and Bayern tie in Austria
This Wednesday, Inter Milan and Liverpool met at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium in a closely contested match, with chances for both teams, but the balance tipped for the English who ended up winning by a score of 0-2.
The first half was the most balanced, although the locals were more dangerous facing the rival area, since Calhanoglu hit a shot off the crossbar.
Liverpool would try it with two occasions from Mané, who hit one of them on the side of the net after an acrobatic 'Chilean', but they would still go into the break goalless.
In the second half, the locals would warn with a play by Perisic that overflowed down the left wing and ended up centering for Lautaro Martínez, but the Argentine, by millimeters, was unable to head in at 53'. In the 60th minute a goal by Dzeko was disallowed for offside.
But with the entry of Colombian Luis Díaz, the recent addition to Klopp's team from the winter market, the situation would change drastically.
With only a minute on the pitch, he almost scored on Handanovic, after receiving a pass in the area from Alexander Arnold, but the defender deflected it for a corner.
At 75', after a corner taken by Robertson, Firminho headed it across the far post to make it 0-1. Then at minute 83, a ball hung into the Inter area, Van Dijk heads it to Salah and the latter shoots with his left foot, but a defender deflects it and thus converts the final 0-2.
Great victory for Klopp's men who have a good lead for the second leg at Anfield.
Bayern's agonizing draw
In Austria, the other round of 16 match was played in parallel, Salzburg against Bayern Munich and the latter only managed to draw, but suffered to achieve that feat towards the end. A real surprise that I can end up worse than thought.
In the first half, the locals dominated the game and from the beginning Okafor's injury was decisive at minute 11, since Adamu would enter for him and it would be him who would score at 21' in a Salzburg counterattack that Adeyemi leads on the right wing, then he passes it to Aaronson so that he gives it to Adamu and he makes it 1-0.
That way they would go to rest with an advantage. It should be noted that the Pole Lewandowski seemed absent for almost the entire match, although he would have some chances towards the end.
The locals resisted as long as they could, but at 90+1', Kimmich centered a ball over the area and Lewandowski headed it for Kingsley to shoot and convert the final 1-1.
The return matches will take place on March 8 at Anfield and the Allianz Arena respectively.
