Louis van Gaal assures that he will continue to lead the Netherlands in the World Cup despite his illness.

This Sunday the coach of the "Clockwork Orange", Louis van Gaal in a television interview on the occasion of a film of his biography that will soon be released, called "Louis", confessed that he has suffered from prostate cancer for some time, but that It will not prevent him from continuing to lead his team in the World Cup in Qatar.

“In each period of my time as national coach I have had to go out at night to go to the hospital without the players knowing until now. While I thought I was healthy. But I am not. This is part of my life,” he added.

In the interview, van Gaal described what his diagnosis is and that he has undergone 25 irradiation sessions, many of them after training his players, at night, so that they will not find out about his illness.

It should be noted that last year he suffered a hip fracture when he fell from a bicycle and a month ago Louis tested positive for covid-19. In those days, the former coach of Manchester United and Barcelona was also the protagonist for describing FIFA's decision to hold the World Cup in Qatar as "ridiculous", motivated "by money and commercial interests".

“I had preferential treatment at the hospital. I was allowed to enter through the back door when I went on an appointment and was immediately moved to another room. They have treated me wonderfully. I have gone through so many difficulties in my life, illness and death, I have probably enriched myself as a person as a result of all these experiences, "he added.

It should be noted that this is his third term as coach of the Netherlands, the previous ones were in 2000-2001 and 2012-2014. Similarly, he has managed the clubs of Barcelona, Ajax Amsterdam, Bayern Munich and AZ Alkmaar, where he has managed to win the leagues with them.

He also managed Manchester United in England, but only won the FA Cup in 2016 and after that, he was fired by the English club's board.

As of November 21, he will lead the "Orange" in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. On the other hand, since last Friday the groups and matches of the first phase of the World Cup have been known. Share Group A with hosts Qatar, Ecuador and Senegal; with the latter will be measured in the opening match.

It should be noted that the Netherlands sealed their ticket to the World Cup in Qatar on November 16 when they beat Norway 2-0.
