Novak Djokovic will not play Roland Garros in France, if he does not get vaccinated
Novak Djokovic currently has 2 Roland Garros under his belt (2016 and 2021)

The case of tennis player Novak Djokovic appears to be spreading after his deportation from Australia. A few days ago, when the controversy with the tennis player began, France had communicated that there would be no problem in participating in the tournament without being vaccinated, but the situation has changed course.

France rectified and currently warns that tennis players must be vaccinated if they wish to compete at Roland Garros, as well as the technical and public bodies.

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic was unable to participate in the Australian Open due to not adhering to this health measure.

Roxana Maracineanu, minister of sports, issued a statement on Sunday night after the French parliament finally approved and adopted a bill that requires the certificate of the vaccination plan for all kinds of social events, including sports.

Through the social network Twitter, the sports minister announced that it will be mandatory to present the vaccination certificate from the moment the law is approved, and it will be extended not only to the public, but also to athletes.

The minister thanked the entire sports union, which for the most part supports this measure and guarantees that all sports factors have the conviction to work together to be able to have sporting events up to the task.

It was Maracineanu herself who on January 7, in the midst of the political and legal trial in Australia on the Djokovic case and his refusal to be vaccinated, had assured that the Serbian could safely participate in the Roland Garros, which is expected and do in mid-May and June.

The Sports Minister then maintained that France would apply exceptions for the tournament, as well as in international sporting events, that French regulations would not apply, and they could participate in competitions even if they are not vaccinated against Covid-19.

Unlike what happened in Australia, in France it was not mandatory to present the vaccination card, they only required a current negative test.

However, the vaccination certificate bill requires presenting the complete vaccination plan from public transport to sports events.
