The Peruvian team will face Australia in the playoff for the World Cup
This Tuesday the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Qualifying match was held at the Al Rayyan Stadium between the United Arab Emirates team and the Australian team, where the winner will face Peru on June 13 for the World Cup playoff in Qatar.
The coach of Peru, Ricardo Gareca attended to supervise the match as a strategy for the preparation of his team for next Monday's game.
The match began with a brief domain of the Australians who tried to reach the Arab area, but without much danger, however, little by little the possession of the ball was balanced for both teams.
Australia tried to take the initiative in attack, but the UAE won the ball and went on the counterattack. However, the 'socceroos' placed up to six players in the center of the field to defend themselves and pressure the exit of the 'whites'. The visitors also defended themselves with an obvious 4-4-2 and the locals could not reach the rival area.
At 35', one of the most dangerous plays of the first half took place. On the part of the premises, Suhail is hand in hand with Ryan, but the Australian goalkeeper wins the duel. The first half would end with that partial score, more possession of the ball for the Arabs and the clearest for the 'socceroos', but without shots on goal.
Starting the second half, Suhail took the first shot on goal. He went down the left and dribbled past two players before taking a low shot that Ryan stopped.
However, at 52', Boyle receives a pass in a possible offside, although the VAR does not indicate it, and then he passes it to the heart of the area to Irvine who ends up converting the partial 0-1. The visitors were ahead in Al Rayyan.
But the tie would fall in the next action. At minute 56, Suhail sends a cross into the area from the left wing, Irvine tries to intercept it, but the rebound falls to Caio, who then ends up momentarily tying the match.
From that moment on, the match became a back-and-forth game. Many counters and attacks on the wings, but without any fruit. At 70', Hrustic He took a powerful left-footed shot that ended up grazing the far post of the US goal.
The following minutes would be from Australia. They dominated the ball and had up to two clear chances that ended up being neutralized, but at 83', Hrustic took a volley shot that ended up hitting a defender and deflected his trajectory to beat Eisa and convert the final 1-2.
The USA turned to the attack from that moment, up to nine men tried to pressure the exits of the 'socceroos', but they ran out of time and in the end Australia will face Peru in the playoff for the place in the World Cup in Qatar.
