Villarreal wins the Valencian derby
This Tuesday the match corresponding to matchday 33 of LaLiga between Villarreal and Valencia took place at the La Cerámica Stadium. It was a Valencian derby that was defined before the 17th minute was up with two goals from the Dutchman Danjuma.
The meeting began with a clear dominance of the 'yellow submarine' and at minute 6 the first clear for the home team took place. Lo Celso arrived in the Valencia area and took a powerful shot that goalkeeper Cillessen deflected for a corner.
A minute later, the locals would take the corner and the Villarreal player's header hit Cömert's hand and the referee, after reviewing the VAR, signaled the maximum penalty. Danjuma charged from the eleventh step and scored the first goal of the match at minute 9.
At 14', Danjuma himself could not finish off a counter against the team led by Unai Emery, but at minute 16, Villarreal would start a play at speed again through Juan Foyth, who passed it filtered so that Danjuma arrived in a hand hand in hand with the goalkeeper and take a cross shot to the right post and score the final 2-0.
Another chance for the Dutchman came in the 25th minute. Lo Celso had a 'spoon' pass over the defense and Danjuma lowered it from his chest and took the shot that came out slightly from above. At 45', he had another one that started from a pass from Yeremi Pino from the edge of the area and Danjuma entered from the left sector of the area and took out a powerful shot that Cillessen stopped.
In this way they would go to rest, but before the start of the second half Emery would make a change. Yeremy Pino leaves and Chukwueze enters. Villarreal would continue to disturb Valencia's goal in the first few minutes and at 54', the visitors would make some changes. Soler, Jesús Vázquez and Yunus Musah come out; and Ilaix, Gayà and Yell enter.
At minute 65, Valencia would score a goal through Cheryshev, but this would be annulled due to a previous offside. In addition, on the play there was a penalty against Ilaix that was also annulled due to the illegal position of the visiting team's attacker.
There would be some more dangerous plays by the 'yellow submarine', but the game would end with the victory of the locals. Villarreal has just won away against Getafe on matchday 32 and eliminated Bayern Munich last week. He has made it to the semi-finals where he will face Klopp's Liverpool.
