Chromecast with Google TV: all about the new next-generation device
We could have a new Chromecast TV this year.

A Chromecast is known and widely used for its ability to turn a normal TV into one with smart features. Therefore, it allows the transmission of video through wireless links from any compatible platform.

However, it is a technology that has been evolving over the years, where the competition has devoured the Google device.

That is why Google could find itself in the development and on the eve of launching a new device for streaming video. Sources indicate that it would be known as "Boreal", and that it will also support the AV1 codec.

Chromecast: how does it work? What's new that Google brings for 2022

According to 9to5Google, a portal that closely follows Google News, it reported that it had access to detailed information about a new device.

In essence, it highlights that there is a totally new device that has Google's operating system for television, nicknamed "Boreal".

In other words, it will have Google TV, software that has been part of the generation of 2020.

For this reason, it is rumored about the possible launch of the new generation of Chromecast that promises to be enough to compete with other large devices.

Even so, we still have to wait for official information from the company, since there are few details in the information that was accessed.

However, new compatibility and storage features that have been requested so much can be expected.

AV1 codec

One of the most needed compatibility features in the 2020 generation models is with the AV1 codec system.

This is a function that allows you to compress video images in order to have greater efficiency in content reproduction. Everything, linearly so that the quality is not affected.

Chromecast will work best with the AV1 codec.

In other words, it compresses the videos from a smaller amount of content data information, without the condition that it loses quality. In some cases, it even improves it.

Larger storage

Google's goal is to give users more freedom, since the current model only has 8 GB of storage.

By the time it was released, it was a considerable number. But, over time, operating systems have been needing more space to work optimally and efficiently.

Of the 8 GB of storage, half was taken up solely by the device's system, barely leaving a 4 GB margin for apps.

In this sense, the company is expected to improve this feature to offer the user total independence from the Smartphone. That is, they do not need to use their phone to use the different streaming applications.

If not, they will be able to install them on the same device for greater convenience, also enjoying great playback quality thanks to AV1.

Expansion of your content

The very director of Google TV products, Rob Caruso, detailed in an interview the intention to offer more content on his platform.

Within their plans, they would have in mind to offer fitness programs as well as videoconferences that take place within the same platform.

Also, in the interview, mention was made of Netflix, an application that has evolved over the years to offer new functions.

Indeed, many of the latter have not been available in the only generation of Chromecast TV, so their update is expected.
