What are moles?

Moles are spots that are characterized by having a different color from the skin. They are generally brown, however there are some red and others blue.
Its shape can be round, oval, and it can even be a spot without regular shape and some of them can be flat and others raised. Therefore, everything that does not have the same color as the skin is a mole.
Once you understand what moles are, you have to understand why they appear on the skin. Melanin is responsible for coloring the skin.
This is generated thanks to the so-called melanocytes, which in situations group many them in the same area and give rise to the appearance of a mole. This means that moles arise from an alteration produced by cells.
There are 2 types of moles. Those with whom we are born, congenital moles and those that appear in the course of our lives, acquired moles.
As we grow, moles can change their appearance, and it is very important that we are attentive to these changes.
In general, they are not cause for alarm, however these changes can sometimes cause a benign mole to become malignant and require removal.
