What is anorexia?
Girls in adolescence have problems with their bodies and in turn the image of beauty provided by the media leads many of them to enter a disease called anorexia. In this article we will review this disorder and what are the causes that produce it.
Anorexia is a disorder that is caused by avoiding consuming food in order not to gain weight and in some cases it may happen that the person overeats and then vomits food, thus leading to another disorder called bulimia.
In general, the majority of people who suffer from anorexia are women and among all of them similar behaviors can be observed, among them, they exercise many hours per day, use laxatives and resort to vomiting. All of them have a weight well below normal for their age and height, however, when they look in the mirror, they look overweight.
There are no specific causes for the manifestation of the disease. However, over the years it has been possible to recognize 2 types of factors that lead an individual to suffer from anorexia:
Family factor: People absorb everything that happens around them, and if there are problems with alcoholism or gender violence in their homes, this will increase depression and the chances of anorexia appearing is greater.
Social factor: Fashion magazines and television show very skinny women, and they call that beauty. Girls grow up with this way of seeing beauty and aspire to achieve it, bringing psychological problems.
Anorexia must be diagnosed as soon as possible to be able to carry out an effective treatment and, if possible, short to be able to move the patient forward. If you know of someone who is going through this, the best thing you can do is find out about the steps you must take so that they agree to appear at a clinic or hospital.
