The piano will be the main instrument this Friday at the "Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo". There will be two shows to learn the best symphonies of this instrument: on the one hand, the Spanish pianist Javier Perianes will perform works by Liszt, Granados, Wagner and Beethoven in a show called “El amor y la muerte”.

While the Q-Arte Quartet, which will be joined by the musician Fabián Fernández Vera, will investigate the work of the Colombian composer Guillermo Uribe Holguín to honor him in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of his death.

Guillermo Uribe Holguín's legacy for music

Guillermo Uribe Holguín was one of the incredible Colombian writers of the 20th century, who arrived in Bogotá in 1880.

This author gained recognition for his work in the formation of the first professional groups in the country; and after his death in 1771, he left an extensive work that shows his contact with avant-garde styles, which 100 years earlier portrayed Western academic music, without neglecting essential components of the Colombian melodic identity.

On Friday, November 26, the group of four members: Liz Ángela García and Santiago Medina on violin, Sandra Arango on viola and Diego García on cello- will perform, together with guest musician Fabián Fernández, four works by Uribe Holguín, in which the strings and the piano are the center of attention.

In the Studio Theater of the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Theater; at 20 hours. Tickets at 30,000 and 40,000 pesos.

About the quartet

The Q-Arte quartet, since its creation in 2010, has focused on the exploration, interpretation and dissemination of a group of four pieces of music delivered in the peninsula.

Its collection incorporates works composed by the best Latin American composers, who have performed in different halls of shows and celebrations in America and Europe.

In addition, the quartet has partnered with Rodolfo Mederos, Günter Haumer and the Latin American Quartet, and with composers such as Gabriela Ortiz, Mario Lavista and Gustavo Leone, among others.

Likewise, his close relationship with the popular author Blas Emilio Atehortúa stands out, as well as his nomination for a Latin Grammy in 2020.

The Javier Perianes show

Simultaneously, at the Teatro Mayor, the Spanish Javier Perianes will also be the star of a show called “El amor y la muerte”.

In this show he will perform some works by composers such as Liszt, Beethoven, Granados and Wagner in which the themes of adoration and death are communicated through music.

Among them are 'Liebestod', one of the arias from the drama 'Tristan and Isolde', by Wagner, and 'Sonata No. 2 in B minor, Op. 35 ′, by Beethoven.
