Minecraft-inspired NFT game steals over 500 ETH
After selling a 10,000-piece NFT collection, the creators have disappeared with the money
Another Rup pull or carpet pull by people or group of people who cheat through digital assets. This time the robbery has an equivalent of almost USD$4 million.
Scams with cryptographic projects is something that we have not stopped seeing today. The digital age is much more risky with the anonymous investment that is made regarding an NFT or a cryptocurrency.
Such is the case of this project inspired by the video game phenomenon, Minecraft, which has left thousands of people affected by alleged fraud, after obtaining 500 ETH. Swipe to read more!
Minecraft P2E: a juicy business
Minecraft since the 2010s has been going strong as one of the best games ever. His fascination is intrinsically linked to the player's imagination, and the construction of an ideal where each person can create from a house, to a universe for himself. The very idea of finding a way to bring these graphics, game quality, and Minecraft missions to the NFT platform was and is praised by many. Since by playing the same way as before, but versioned to the game form, play to earn (P2E) the Minecraftnians would get monetary rewards in the real world. This just by having fun in the iconic video game, which many of the people in the gaming universe have played for years. Unfortunately, this incredible idea was not only profitable for goodwill purposes. Also, the project was a smokescreen that we will not forget for a long time.
Sale of the collection of NFTs
After the announcement of the inauguration of the project, it did not take long for fans to appear enthusiastic about the platform, which would be under construction for the purpose of entering another level of Minecraft. This time versioned with the name of "Blockverse". We take this designation as a reference to the universe of blocks that is found both in Minecraft, and curiously, we also find in the blockchain. The creators of this game, which already had almost 3 million followers before it was published, took as a great inaugural initiative, selling the game's NFTs on the Open Sea platform.
The followers saw this as a great investment that would bring him maximum profits and a lot of profit within the world of Blockverse. Incredibly, in just 8 minutes, absolutely all the NFTs in the Blockverse collection were sold. Which were 10,000 non-fungible tokens.
Last appearance
Hopes and expectations were the order of the day, but the 8 minutes in paradise quickly faded. As a result of the disappearance of the creators of this NFT video game.
Despite celebrating and publishing the news, that they managed to sell the 10,000 NFTs in that crazy period of time, on all their social networks.
It was the last time any of your accounts had movement. A very cruel farewell to its users, who were anxiously waiting after the celebration that was seen on the Blockverse Instagram account.
After that, there is nothing else in his feed, and his other accounts have been disabled, both his website (which is not available online), and his Discord community.
Those affected are heard
After days of knowing absolutely nothing about the creators, and that they will delete even the Blockverse video game server, they appeared on Twitter to give an explanation of what happened.
The messages and the massive bombardment produced by the affected people were immediate. Coming to the web messages of all kinds after hours without knowing any news about the creators of Blockverse.
In most, the creators were described as swindlers, and with anger rising to their ears, they publicly sued those who had anything to do with the project.
The anonymous creator
After all the commotion made by the victims of this case, unfortunately, of digital assets, an anonymous entity appeared posting a link on Twitter with a letter of apology. Letting the people who opened the link know that the disappearance of the creators was totally a misunderstanding and that it came about as a result of a series of disagreements, and fear. The character tells about a data block and several understood that seeing that the game "was not good enough", they even threatened to kill and published personal data of the creators.
He also comments that they had no choice but to stop everything, so that the waters would ease. He also highlighted being totally disappointed that the community had such bad faith about the project.
What happened with the money?
Some time after that unsatisfactory explanation for everyone, the anonymous individual expressed that they were really worried about everything that had happened. As long as the money was kept with them.
This was a much higher figure than the 500 ETH earned from the sale of the collection. That in conversion was calculated at that time at about USD$1.3 million.
In addition to this large number, they had also obtained profits from another series of activities carried out previously. After venting in such a way, the anonymous creator considered announcing something that was really a total nerve towards those affected. They would keep absolutely all the money, taking it as "compensation" for the death threats and the bad time that occurred.
Solution?
In addition to further infuriating the network of ex-followers with that decision that hit like a blow to the lungs, he offered two simple solutions to those affected.
Sell your NFTS at a value much higher than what was spent. This idea was the only solution they would have right now. Or wait a while until the creators put everything back to work.
The problem with the first option is that they cannot offer an offer if there is no demand. Those NFTs are no longer valuable, nor will they be, since the purpose for which they were created no longer exists.
With all these strong episodes, of extreme impotence, users have continued to sue, but really the anonymity of the network of digital assets will make it impossible for them to find the culprits.
And those affected, holders of NFTs, have not published anything, just like the creators of the game, who have disappeared again without a trace, nor a face to hate.
