The Xbox Series X / S has a higher sales rate than previous generations
Xbox Series X / S is Microsoft's best-selling console in a one-year period.

The Xbox Series X / S is just over a year old since it was released. This console has been a success since its launch, so much so that getting one can be a daunting task.

But this lack of stock, which has been going on for months and is likely to last a few more, is due to sales exceeding manufacturing capacity.

Let us remember that we are going through a global crisis of components and this has made Microsoft unable to manufacture as many consoles as the market demands.

However, the company has not stopped and the Xboxes that hit the market are selling like hot cakes. This has become official when the company has announced that in just one year and two months, the new consoles have outsold all previous Xbox in the period of one year.

An extremely successful new generation

The new generation of consoles is the most successful so far.

It is no secret to anyone that this new generation of consoles, including the PlayStation, the Nintendo Switch and the Xbox Series has been highly successful. All three consoles have broken growth records and have become the best-selling consoles in history in the span of a year.

First we have the Nintendo Switch with 101.88 million units sold worldwide.

In second place we have the PlayStation 5 which has sold 17.25 million units and finally, we have the Xbox Series X / S with 11.48 million units.

It is important to mention that the Nintendo Switch has been on the market for a few more years, which is why its numbers are higher.

The Xbox Series X / S can vastly outperform previous generations in sales

The sales pace of the Xbox Series X / S is brutal.

If we look at the total sales of the consoles, we realize that although they have not surpassed previous generations in sales, we have that the growth they have had in just one year makes it clear that it will far exceed previous generations.

For example, the Xbox One to date has sold 50.54 million units in 7 years. This means that it had a growth of 8.42 million units per year and the Xbox Series has sold about 10 million consoles in one year.

The same happens with the Xbox 360, the best-selling of all history with 85.20 million units in 11 years. This averages 7.74 million units sold per year.

If it continues to grow steadily, the Xbox Series could easily become the best-selling Xbox console in history.

Component shortages until 2023

The shortage of components has affected the sale of Xbox.

One of the factors that has prevented Xbox from selling more units has been a shortage of components.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has caused this phenomenon that has not been seen before. But despite everything, the company has not given up and continues to manufacture the Xbox at the highest possible rate.

As it has been learned, the shortage of components is expected to last until 2023. However, it is likely that the manufacturing numbers could increase in the coming months.

Getting an Xbox Series X / S has not been an easy task, especially in the months of the greatest demand like December.
