Spinach gnocchi with ham
Gnocchi is a typical Italian dish, which contain, among other things, eggs, salt and flour. Due to its great versatility, we have decided to create spinach gnocchi with ham.
If you dare, you can create some with banana, yucca, pumpkin, ricotta or with other ingredients that are to your liking. Its preparation is done in a moderate cooking time, considering that you have everything on hand to start.
This preparation is considered a main dish, so it is recommended to consume it at lunch. Consider the following preparation for 4 people and let's get to work.
Ingredients
Olive oil.
300 grams of spinach.
Salt.
350 grams of flour.
Parsley.
250 milliliters of liquid cream.
2 egg whites.
30 grams of grated cheese.
2 onions.
4 slices of Serrano ham.
Step by step spinach gnocchi recipe
For the spinach
1. The first thing is to prepare the spinach. Remove stem from spinach.
2. Bring to a pot with water, salt and cook for 2 minutes.
3. At the end of the time, remove the spinach, drain and add cold water to stop cooking. Do not throw away the water where you cooked the spinach to prepare the gnocchi.
For the gnocchi
4. With the help of a food processor or a sharp knife, cut them into pieces.
5. Now, place them in a large container to season them.
6. Add the egg whites and the flour little by little. Go uniting by parts until the complete flour is integrated.
7. This should result in a dough.
8. Now, cover the dough with a cloth or transparent paper for 10 minutes.
9. Then, in a saucepan, heat the water in which the spinach was cooked.
10. The dough you have prepared, take it to a pastry bag.
11. Let a little of the mixture come out, cut with scissors approximately 1 centimeter pieces and drop into the water.
12. Let them cook until they float. This takes no more than 4 minutes.
13. You can make them in parts, so you can control the cooking time.
14. Repeat the process until you have used all the dough. When finished just drain them and continue with the recipe.
For the sauce.
15. In a pan add three tablespoons of oil.
16. While heating, chop the onion, take it to the pan and let it cook over low heat for 6 minutes.
17. Now chop the ham into small, fine pieces. Add them to the onion when you're done.
18. Let them cook for a few seconds and add the cream.
19. Wait for it to cook over low heat for 5 more minutes.
20. When ready, add the gnocchi, mix well and cook for about 3 minutes or so.
21. Then, it only remains to serve the gnocchi with the sauce. Add grated cheese decorate with parsley and voilà!
Keep in mind that the sauce should not thicken too much, otherwise it will not be able to integrate properly. It should not be very liquid either, since the gnocchi has a little water that can cause the flavor to be lost.
With these details you can prepare some wonderful spinach and ham gnocchi in a few minutes. Its flavor is extraordinary, adults and children will love it.
