The gypsy arm is a roll of biscuit with cream and fruits, which is very traditional as a dessert at Christmas dinner. However, it is not necessary to bake this delicious biscuit to make it. All this makes it easier and faster to make it.

That is why below we will explain how to make it in a simple way and with very few ingredients.

Ingredients of the gypsy arm without oven

  • 2 bags of marbled or marbled pancake.

  • 350 grams of strawberry.

  • Condensed milk, necessary quantity.

  • 1 cup of walnut.

  • ½ liter of whipped cream type whipped cream.

Steps for the elaboration of the gypsy arm without oven

Note: We will divide the process into several parts to make it easier to explain.

Making the pancake base

  1. Prepare a tray with aluminum foil and then place the pancakes one by one, in order to complete and cover the entire tray.

  2. With remaining pancake pieces, fill in any gaps or gaps between the pancake spaces and flatten the pieces slightly.

  3. Place another aluminum foil on top of the pancakes and with the help of a rolling pin, flatten a little by applying pressure. Don't worry if the pancakes will crack a little, but be careful not to let this happen.

  4. Remove the aluminum foil and continue to squish a bit with your hands until you get the desired thickness. Remember that it must have a thickness that allows you to make at least three layers.

  5. Take the condensed milk and with the help of a kitchen brush, spread around the edges of each pancake so that they stick. This should only be done on the edges and with the pieces that you placed in the holes.

Rolled up

  1. Fold one of the outer sides inward, using the aluminum foil to prevent the pancakes from breaking. Then, press a little so that the pancake is slightly spread with the cream.

  2. Remove a bit of the aluminum foil and make a second fold, pressing again to compact the roll.

  3. Peel off the aluminum foil again and make another fold, squashing so that all the folds made are compacted. Don't worry if the filling comes out a bit with the folds, as this is normal.

  4. Finish folding the roll and apply pressure. Finally, in the same aluminum foil, roll completely, leaving the edges uncovered.

  5. Apply whipped cream to the edges to finish closing and sealing and pressurize when putting in the refrigerator.

  6. Wrap the gypsy arm in a second aluminum foil, closing on both sides.

  7. Put the gypsy arm in the freezer for at least two and a half hours.

  4. If you like, give the surface some texture by grating with a fork.

  5. Chop the strawberries in slices or in four parts.

  6. With the chopped strawberries, make two rows to decorate.

  7. Place the sheets also on the side walls, as you like.

  8. If you like, put any other Christmas decorations of your choice.

  9. Refrigerate for a couple more hours and serve when you notice that the cream is cold.

Variations in the recipe

  • Feel free to decorate by sprinkling chocolate chips or drizzle, chopped walnuts, peanuts, or almonds.

  • You can substitute the whipped cream for chocolate cream, peanut butter or caramel cream, as these are also alternatives that combine perfectly with strawberries.

  • If you don't want to use chopped strawberries, you can use other fruits such as cherries, pineapples, peaches, bananas, among others. In case you use the latter, remember to dip the pieces in lemon, so they do not oxidize.

  • For decoration, feel free to use the piping bag to make rosettes and place the strawberry pieces on top, in case you have a piping bag at home.

  • If the dessert you are making is not for children, you can just moisten the pancakes with rum or whiskey, then flatten with the rolling pin and let cool in the refrigerator for an hour before continuing with the rest of the steps.

  • Also, consider making the whipped cream with a little liqueur to add a punch to the dessert.

  • If you want the dessert to be sweeter, spread the condensed milk over the entire extension of the pancake and not just along the edges.

  • If you prefer, you can bake the cake instead of using pancakes. The rest of the steps for the realization of the gypsy arm is the same.

How is the gypsy arm preserved without an oven?
