Being the second cause of death in men worldwide and the second most frequently localized type of cancer; treatment to fight prostate cancer has made a lot of progress lately.

Multimodal strategy. With the multimodal approach, scientists have managed to merge treatments that have allowed the reduction of deaths from prostate cancer, for this they rely on innovative and next-generation technology.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR PROSTATE CANCER

Stereotactic radiation therapy. The use of this therapy enables small doses of radiation to be delivered, specifically focused and directly on the tumor. It can be applied anywhere on the body; except in the brain.

Conformal radiation. It is a 3-D CT scan, with which medical personnel can focus their attention directly on the tumor while reducing damage to all healthy tissues.

Intensity modulated radiation therapy. These computerized x-rays allow an exact precision for the destruction of the tumor, attacking it from all its sides.

Proton therapy. Making use of protons uses a beam of higher proton radiation, which more accurately goes directly to the tumor, which reduces damage in other areas.

Rectal separator. To avoid rectal irritation as a result of proton therapy, a liquid is used that is inserted with a syringe between the prostate and the rectum; which moves the rectum far away from the prostate so that it does not receive radiation doses during treatment.

Hydrotherapy. Science is supported by this physiotherapeutic treatment, which helps the patient to improve their defenses; in order to strengthen the immune system that tends to weaken during chemo and radiotherapies.

Cryotherapy. Using very cold temperatures to freezing point: this technique manages to eliminate the prostate gland; as well as the tissue that is cancerous around it.
