“Spider-Man: No way home” is overtaken by “Scream” in the US.
Protagonist of the horror film Scream

The arrival of the adventure "Scream" occupied the best position in US theaters this weekend, unseating "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which for four weeks in a row, had led the billboard.

Fans of the film attended to see it last week, and this Monday was the perfect day for them to attend the theaters for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, thanks to the full theaters, the film obtained 34 million dollars.

This was an impressively improved opening compared to 2011's “Scream 4,” where it made just $18.7 million and was a huge flop.

The return of "Scream" was made in commemoration of the 25th anniversary.

In this fifth installment it has a large part of its original actors such as: Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Névé Campbell. On the other hand, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett assume the duties of directors, since Wes Craven passed away in 2015.

As far as "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is concerned, it came in second place with $25 million grossed. Taking into account that it has already reached the fifth week available in theaters.

Now, the movie starring Tom Holland and Zendaya has a total gross of $698.7 million, making it the fourth highest-grossing movie in US history, after "Avatar" (2009), "Avengers: Endgame" (2019) and "Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens" (2015).

The animated "Sing 2" ranked third with $10.5 million, ahead of "The King's Man" with a cumulative $2.8 million.

"The 355", was the film that culminated the table. It stars the Spanish Penélope Cruz, with a collection of 2.7 million dollars after its impotent premiere the previous week, where it did not exceed 4.8 million dollars.
