After learning of their sister's abuse, two young men murdered their stepfather in the US.
The United States police department has arrested two young brothers who murdered their stepfather after learning that he was abusing their 9-year-old younger sister.
In MacAllen, a city in Texas, the body of Gabriel Quintanilla was found, who allegedly had been beaten to death by Alejandro Treviño, 18, and his 17-year-old brother. An 18-year-old friend of the brothers would also be implicated.
The Pharr Police Department told the media that after finding out, the brothers confronted Quintanilla in a mobile home and a fight broke out. Gabriel would have walked out of the place.
Later, the youngest of the brothers followed Quintanilla to a residential area where he was beaten between the brothers and Juan Meléndez, a friend of the accused.
They would have changed vehicles to flee and return to the site, where Quintanilla was walking badly injured.
According to the police report, Quintanilla would have been attacked for the third time, but this time the youths used a tool as a weapon to attack him, which would cause severe head trauma. A few hours later, the lifeless body was found in a field in McAllen.
Juan Meléndez and the youngest of the brothers were arrested after being accused of assault, murder and participation in organized criminal activities. Alejandro was not charged with murder, only with participation in organized criminal activity and aggravated assault.
The stepfather of the accused, Gabriel Quintanilla, 42, had an arrest warrant for sexual abuse of minors and another for family violence.
Through a request on Change.org, the relatives of the detainees started an online petition for the release of the young people.
In the writing on the website, the relatives ask the state of Texas for the release of the young people, since they could spend a lifetime in prison and were only defending their little sister.
According to Hidalgo records, the young men are still in custody, but they have a bond of one million dollars each.
