Agreement between Bayern Munich and Barcelona for Lewandowski
This Saturday FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich reached a verbal agreement for the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski who will be transferred to the Catalan club. This is reported from Catalonia through a statement that also explains that the player still has to sign the contracts and that he undergoes a medical review.
Robert arrives as one of the reinforcements sought by the Catalans with a view to renewing the squad for the 2022-2023 season. Those led by Xavi did not win any title last season and have already signed players like the Brazilian Raphinha, from Leeds United who signed until 2027 for 58 million euros plus 9 million in variables.
Andreas Christensen, central defender from Chelsea, arrived at cost 0 as did Franc Kessié, who came from AC Milan. In the same way, the departure of other players such as Frenkie De Jong has yet to be defined, and everything indicates that he will end up at Manchester United.
Lewandowski, currently 33 years old, has played for the Bavarian club since 2014, where he helped his team win 8 Bundesligas, 3 German Cups, 5 German Super Cups, 1 FIFA Club World Cup, 1 UEFA Champions League and 1 European Super Cup. In addition, he played 384 games where he scored 348 goals.
“We have a verbal confirmation from FC Barcelona. This clarity is good for both parties. Robert is a player who deserves everything, he has won everything with us. We are very grateful to him," said Herbert Hainer, president of Bayern Munich.
It should be noted that the Polish striker had already expressed his desire to leave the German club, so it was expected that in these months, especially before starting the European leagues, his destiny would be defined. A few days ago, his desire not to participate with the Bavarians in the preseason was demonstrated and by then, his signing for the Catalan club was expedited.
Similarly, this is only the beginning of the agreement as expressed in the official statement published on the Catalans' Twitter account:
"FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski, pending the player passing the medical review and signing the contracts."
On the other hand, it is known that Barcelona also intends to incorporate into its ranks the Portuguese midfielder who plays for Manchester City, that is, Bernardo Silva, however, although the 'citizens' have marked a firm position on the player, they have valued at more than 100 million euros.
The Catalans need to finalize De Jong's operation to obtain enough capital to take over the services of the Portuguese who ends his contract with City in June 2025.
On the one hand, the English club does not want Silva to leave, but rumors suggest that the player has asked Pep Guardiola not to close the negotiation with the club chaired by Joan Laporta.
