China registers more than 20 thousand covid cases in one day
The Shanghai health system is collapsed, so camps have been improvised to care for those infected.

This Wednesday, China registered 20,472 cases of covid-19, most of the positive cases come from the economic city of Shanghai and it is the highest number since the coronavirus pandemic began, whose origin was in this Asian country.

Although the number of cases sets off alarms, the forecasts are hopeful, since many of those infected are asymptomatic and no deaths from the virus have been reported so far.

China has been one of the countries that had controlled the spread of the coronavirus since the first outbreak in the city of Wuhan (where the covid originated).

The government created a kind of epidemiological fence by putting certain regions in confinement: implementation of restrictions on international travel managed to lower the figures in the daily reports.

Despite the measures taken by the government, in the last month the figures have increased and although the Chinese population is one of the largest in the world, the reports are still far below compared to other countries, whose positive cases for the variant omicron are high.

However, the "zero coronavirus" plan has collapsed and has aroused concern in the authority.

Collapse in health services

Although it is true that no deaths have been recorded, hospitals are overwhelmed with positive cases of coronavirus, especially in Shanghai, which has already been placed on lockdown to prevent it from spreading to other cities.

The centers to isolate the infected are already crowded, so they have had to tighten the protocols, to the point of separating parents from their children if any were negative and thus avoid being infected.

Given the increase in cases, camps have been improvised with thousands of stretchers to care for people who come to hospital centers that do not have the capacity to care for them.
