Taylor Hawkins died of an overdose in a Bogotá hotel.

This Friday, the drummer of the band Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins, died in a hotel in Colombia at the age of 50. The information was announced through a statement on the Twitter account of the musical group.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laugh will live with us all forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect at this unimaginably difficult time."

It should be noted that the reason for the death was not immediately disclosed, but the Semana magazine website reported that the drummer was found dead in a hotel in the north of Bogotá.

The band was on tour in Latin America and had already visited Mexico, Argentina and Chile, and was preparing to perform its last concerts in Colombia and then in Brazil. For this reason, they were in the Colombian capital to participate in the Estéreo Picnic festival.

The festival had begun and the Black Pumas band was giving its presentation, when one of the members informed the public of the death of Taylor Hawkins, although a statement had been published on the festival's Twitter account announcing the cancellation of the Foo Fighters concert. for "a very serious medical situation".

After carrying out the forensic medical studies, the Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the cause of death was an overdose, in addition, in its report it described that:

"In the urine toxicology test performed on Taylor Hawkins' body, 10 types of substances were preliminarily found, including: THC (marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids."

Similarly, it is known that the hotel staff where he was staying called the emergency service because the drummer had felt severe chest pain. For its part, the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá stated in a statement that:

“The health professional who attended the emergency indicated that she carried out the respective resuscitation maneuvers. However, there was no response and the patient was declared deceased.”

Taylor Hawkins was born in Texas in February 1972 and in 1997 he joined the band Foo Fighters, to replace William Goldsmith who was in the musical group for a short period.

He lived in Laguna Beach, California and studied music at a conservatory there, specializing in drums, but he also mastered the guitar and piano. Notable artists who inspired him include Stewart Copeland of The Police and Roger Taylor of Queen.

He became one of the most important members along with its founder, Dave Grohl, who was also a member of Nirvana, but founded Foo Fighters in 1994 after his group disbanded following the suicide of lead singer Kut Cobian.

“I was a little nervous at first, but I got over it. No one can play better than Dave Grohl. He just has a vision in his head,” Hawkins told OC Weekly shortly after joining the band.

It should be noted that the first album in which he participated was In your honor, where he also did vocals on the theme Cold Day in the Sun.

On the other hand, last Tuesday the drummer fulfilled the dream of Emma Peralta, a 9-year-old Paraguayan girl who wanted to meet him personally.

Julio Peralta, the girl's father who is also a drummer, explained that his daughter was able to speak with Taylor and take a photo with him outside the hotel where he was staying in Asunción.

“My daughter, since she found out that the Foo Fighters were coming, started a campaign to meet them. Today we took his drums to play in front of the Sheraton and look who came out at his call. Dreams come true”, Peralta posted on his Twitter account.

In the same way, the girl's father also stated, after hearing the fateful news, that he was devastated and did not know how to explain it to his daughter.
