Montiel is recognized for her charitable work in the United States and in other countries around the world

Carmen María Montiel, a former Venezuelan beauty queen, won this weekend the Republican primary elections for District 18 in Texas, the United States, as reported by the political consultancy "The Bing Red Consulting", which is based in that state.

Montiel participated in the first electoral round of the Republican Party in Texas and obtained 10,823 votes in his favor. With this, he has the opportunity to run in the general elections for the Texas Congress and thus get closer to his goal of achieving a position on Capitol Hill in Washington.

The information was given by the political consultancy, where joy was also shown for the triumph of the Venezuelan. "We celebrate the victory of Carmen María Montiel, for her fight against rampant crime, human trafficking, inflation, and dependence on the government," said the news that was reposted by Montiel on his Instagram account.

In 2017, Montiel ran for this position for the first time, but at that time he did not reach his goal, since he lost with a difference of a thousand votes, but this second time he achieved the expected result to participate in the 2022 elections.

The Venezuelan was born in the state of Zulia and in 1984 she triumphed as Miss Venezuela and then left her borders to represent her nation in the Miss Universe, which was held that same year in the city of Miami. There she obtained the title of the second finalist.

In 1988 she took a new direction and emigrated to the United States, where she arrived with a clear goal: Studying journalism. At the beginning of her arrival to this country, she lived in Tennessee, but when she got married she moved to Houston, Texas, where she began working as a reporter for Telemundo and soon became a presenter for the Telemundo-CNN newscast.

While working as a reporter, she also worked in charities, both in the US and in other nations, which allowed her work to be recognized in many parts of the world. She has even received several awards for it.

Currently, she keeps working in the journalistic world, without leaving aside his passion for charity and social aid.
