Spain will send humanitarian aid to Ukraine through Poland

The Spanish government is already preparing its humanitarian aid to proceed to send it to Ukraine, a country that is suffering from the attacks of a Russian military invasion.

From the Spanish society they have initiated activities to offer help to the Ukrainian civil population.

José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, attended the Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base, close to Madrid, this Saturday. In this place, a reception of medical supplies and twenty tons of medicines was carried out, which will be sent in the first batch of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The aid to be provided is valued at more than 150,000 euros, equivalent to approximately 169,110 dollars. The shipment will be made in the next few days by land to Poland and from there it will be sent to Ukraine.

The Spanish government also expects to send defensive material for the protection of civilians in Ukraine. Until now, Albares has not offered more details about it, since this shipment really depends on the Spanish Ministry of Defense.

In addition to humanitarian aid, Spanish societies such as the Fundación Juntos por la Vida and the Ukrainian consulate in Valencia (east), have had different initiatives. One of them is the organization so that 560 children and some adults from Ukraine, evacuate to this Spanish city, through Spain.

The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) of Spanish chef José Andrés, called World Central Kitchen, has traveled to the border between Ukraine and Poland to provide food to Ukrainians who are leaving their country.

Approximately 150 Ukrainian citizens have lived these last two days in free shelters that have been provided by the regional governments of the Valencian Community (east), the Balearic Islands (Mediterranean) and Catalonia (northeast), since it is impossible to return to Ukraine.

The Madrid City Council has been in contact with different embassies, the Red Cross and UNHCR to provide 250,000 euros, approximately 281,850 dollars, purely for the Ukrainian refugees.

These gestures of solidarity have been mixed with demonstrations in the form of protest, which continued on Saturday in different cities of Spain, mainly Barcelona.

About 900 people gathered to show their rejection of the military invasion. Among the protesters are more Russians and Ukrainians.
