New restrictions in Italy for Covid-19

As of this Monday, Italy has increased its measures to try to contain the coronavirus, this time it has implemented a new reinforced health certificate, with this, daily activities will be much more restricted to the unvaccinated.

Likewise, it has been requested to increase security controls in subways and shopping areas, as well as in means of transport such as buses.

This considering that the Christmas season has arrived, so the sources of contagion can be much greater due to the agglomeration of people.

This new certificate will be in the possession of all vaccinated citizens and those who have overcome this disease.

The same will be requested to access restaurants, cinemas, theaters, bars, as well as to enter sporting events, public ceremonies and parties, which will be required until January 15.

Green certificate

The unvaccinated are increasingly cornered

The Italian Ministry of Health has started to launch an application that allows checking the validity of what will be the "Green super certificate" as it has been called in Italy.

Until now, the possibility that this certificate has a validity of nine months from the last dose of the vaccine for those vaccinated and six months for those who are vaccinated against Covid-19 is being studied.

While the normal certificate, which also includes that its holders must have a negative antigen test, which is mandatory to be able to go to work, access public transport, transit through commercial areas and enter museums.

But with the arrival of the new reinforced certificate, the new measures decreed by the Ministry of the Interior have come into force to increase the controls of both health passes as of this Monday.

Application for the health certificate

The green certificate will be mandatory to enter public spaces

To ensure compliance with these new measures and to increase health controls throughout Italy, the national police, the militarized police known as the Carabinieri and the personnel of the local public transport agencies will be in charge of requesting this certificate from passengers on the metro and bus from 12 years.

This has generated a lot of controversy about school transport, since minors and those over 12 years old will have to show this certificate to be able to use the school buses.

So the regions have asked for a moratorium to allow everyone to go to school, a measure that is being examined by the Government.

But the government continues to insist that means of transport have to be a safe place for everyone, so its intention is to apply as many measures as possible to them.

The entrance to bars and restaurants

On the other hand, access to restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues will be controlled by local police officers, and those who do not have this certificate that is required for each of these activities, then they will have to face fines ranging from 200 to 1000 euros.

Therefore, the entry into force of these new security measures for Italian citizens, which includes the use of a mask as mandatory within city centers and commercial areas, has promoted vaccination in recent days, in particularly that of the third doses or that of the boosters.

So far, in Italy 8.6 million doses have been administered, which means that at least 42% of the population already has the booster, while the immunized figure could complete 45.7 million or 84.76%.

It is expected that next week the vaccination of minors between 5 and 11 years old will begin, if so, then all these measures would begin to apply to children between these ages.

The Italian authorities are very concerned about Christmas dates, which they believe may be key to creating new sources of contagion, so they want to avoid the worst.

As the days go by, new measures can be implemented that allow security to be strengthened much more.

During the last 24 hours, a total of 15021 new infections have been registered throughout Italy and a figure of 43 deaths from coronavirus.
