Jet2 pilot fainted mid-flight and the plane made an emergency landing thanks to a passenger
Like a movie, a Jet2holidays pilot fainted in mid-flight and the plane landed thanks to a passenger, who turned out to be a pilot on vacation. Some would call it a stroke of luck, for others, to live again. However, the airline said that in these cases they could land the plane with the help of someone without nerves and who correctly obeys orders.
The flight LS765 of the British airline Jet2 was the one who lived this experience. The flight that did go to Funchal had to be diverted to Porto. However, the co-pilot cannot land the plane alone, so they announced the situation from the cockpit and asked if there was a pilot on the plane.
A passenger, who happened to be a Jet2 pilot, got up from the back and offered to land the plane. The airline only apologized for the delay this had caused, but assured that the lives of the passengers were never in danger.
Of course, passengers do not think the same, since they believe that there must be up to three pilots, which happens on long-duration flights, but in this case it was a very short journey.
