This Wednesday the renewal of Croatian midfielder Luka Modric's contract with the merengue club for another year was made official. It should be noted that the signing lasted until the end of La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

Next, the head of the Madrid club presented the Croatian with a shirt with the player's name and the number 2023. It should be noted that Modric received permission from the federation to be absent from the concentration of the national team due to Nations League commitments to move to the Spanish capital.

Due to the extension of his contract, one more season, he will be able to exceed 500 white games and be one of the oldest in the club.
Real Madrid is the best club in the world, with millions of fans. There is nothing bigger than Real Madrid. To continue wearing this shirt is a source of pride, playing at the Bernabéu is a dream for me. I also feel very loved by the fans and I want to continue returning this love by doing well and giving everything on the pitch, Modric said.
In addition, the former Tottenham player informed the official media of the merengue club in an interview that:
I am very happy, it is what I wanted. I feel very proud to continue wearing this shirt. I feel very excited, with the physique to continue competing at the highest level and I want to continue doing that at Real Madrid. I've been saying it for a long time: Real Madrid is my club and in my head I just wanted to stay here.
It should be noted that this season the Croatian has stood out for his great performance. 3,437 minutes distributed in 45 games and has been a starter in 40 of them. He was chosen as the MVP of the Spanish Super Cup final and in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea, where he assisted Rodrygo for the equalizer.
Luka Modric arrived at Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2012 and in 2016 he extended his contract until 2020.
In that agreement there was a clause that extended him one more year if he won the Ballon d'Or, as it happened. In 2021 he signed for one more year and was part of the great season in which the Whites won La Liga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup.
Modric has three individual awards with Madrid: In 2018 he won the Ballon d'Or, the FIFA 'The Best' and the UEFA award for the best player of the year. In addition, they have 20 collective titles: three Leagues, one Copa del Rey, five Champions Leagues, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups and four Spanish Super Cups.
