The Parisian authorities confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the causes of his death. These investigations will be carried out by the judicial police.

The former agent was being held in the Parisian prison of La Santé and would have hanged himself last Friday at night, according to the French media.

His lawyers indicated that Brunel's decision was not motivated by his guilt but by "an enormous feeling of injustice".

The legal defenders of the deceased stressed that their anguish was from a person who was "crushed by a media judicial system" that it is time to question.

Brunel was suspected of assault, rape and sexual harassment of dozens of victims, adults and minors. He was also accused of being in charge of the transfer and lodging of the young women who went to the meetings with Jeffrey Epstein.

The French authorities opened their preliminary investigation in August 2019 to determine possible similar cases in the rest of the country.

Jeffrey Epstein died that same month in prison while awaiting trial for various sexual crimes.

Jean-Luc Brunel was the founder of some modeling agencies, such as MC2 Model or Karin Models, and the investigations and interrogations of several members of these agencies placed him as the person in charge of searching for women for these parties.

In addition, his name was cited in many similar cases in the United States.

The young American, Virginia Giuffre, claimed to be treated as a "sex slave" by Epstein and was the one who denounced Prince Andrew of England for sexual abuse.

Giuffre reached an agreement on February 15 with the prince, who also claimed that she was forced to have sex with Brunel several times.
